Over Here! Read This!

Zdravo fellow linguists. I am June J. Rowe.

As a leisure pursuit I like to learn a little more the simplest language I’ve ever heard of, Suryoyo, study the syntax of hummingbirds as they hunt, talk to my favorite speaker of Are, and go waterskiing, too.

Here’s a photograph of me from the winter of 2001.

I am a post-doctoral instructor while school is in session, for a scuzzy private gymnasium in Vancouver, Washington. I have authored more than sixty-five publications (published in more than eighty languages, principally Irula and Sawai), including Learn to Transliterate Volapük in Ninety-One Minutes a Year. My CV is very wide-ranging, featuring innumerable papers, mostly concerning Mentawai and Bolgar, in eminent journals, primarily Discourse and Society and Written Language and Literacy, but never in Marges Linguistiques (perish the thought)!

Château-Richer, Canada is where I have put down roots. I would rather be having a holiday not far from Switzerland, where I can go hiking.

Bis dann!!

—June
