Ling-Ken II

Mary Shapiro
Truman State University

This “Ling-Ken” puzzle can be completed using only the IPA symbols /aj, i, e, s, t, m/. Each symbol can be used only once per row and per column. Each shaded area contains the symbols needed to write the given word or phrase in phonemic transcription. (In actual pronunciation (phonetic), speakers would likely use the flap for /t/ in some words, and nasalize some vowels.) The symbols may appear in any order within the shaded area for the word or phrase.

Unlike the previous Ling-Ken puzzle, this puzzle has no symbol to get you started, which also means there are multiple solutions. Send as many correct solutions as you can find. If you think you can solve the puzzle one or more times, send your solutions to the editors of Speculative Grammarian by April 15th, 2010. You could win a SpecGram magnet of your choice. The correct solutions and winners, if any, will likely be announced in an upcoming issue.
